CAA: Citizenship Amendment Act to come into force from today… Center notified

CAA:

The Central Government has notified the Citizenship Amendment Act. As a result, this amendment law has come into effect from this evening. It is known that before the notification of the Lok Sabha elections, the central government will bring the Citizenship Amendment Act into force.

As everyone expected, this law was notified by the Union Home Ministry and brought into force before the elections.

The Citizenship Amendment Act was passed in December 2019 itself. It is ready to be implemented on 10th January 2020. But, till now this law has not been notified. That is why this law did not come into force. Recently, the Union Home Ministry has notified the CAA this evening.

If Hindu, Sikh, Jain, Christians, Buddhists, Parsis from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan come to India due to religious oppression, this law will allow them to grant citizenship under their CAA. However, the idea of providing citizenship on the basis of religion and that the law is not justified and that this law was brought against the Muslim communities was severely debated during the introduction of this bill in the Parliament.

CAA will not be implemented in Kerala: CM Pinarayi Vijayan

The central government has taken another sensational decision in view of the general election schedule coming up soon. The implementation of the controversial ‘Citizenship Amendment Act-2019’ before the Parliament elections has become a topic of discussion. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has strongly opposed the CAA brought into force by the Centre.

Describing this as a religious division law, Pinarayi Vijayan decided not to implement it in his state. On the other hand, Satyendra Das, head priest of Ayodhya Ram Mandir, said that ‘we welcome the implementation of CAA in the country from today and we appreciate this decision taken by the Centre’.

This Act applies to Hindus, Christians, Sikhs, Jains and Parsis who came to our country from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh before December 31, 2014. All this process is done online. Controversy arose over the exclusion of Muslims in this law. The NDA government amended the Citizenship Act of 1955 and made it a law in 2019. But this is the first time in the country that religion has been taken as a basis for granting citizenship.
