TikTok Banned in Us
TikTok Banned in Us: The US House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a bill to ban the popular video sharing app TikTok (Tik Tok) belonging to a Chinese company (US House Passes Bill).
352 people voted in favor of this ban bill while 65 people voted against it. Members of the ruling Democratic Party, along with opposition Republicans, also supported the bill. This bill, which has been approved by the House of Representatives, will be introduced in the Senate. After passing the Senate, the bill will have to be signed by President Joe Biden. The bill will become law after Biden’s signature.
Meanwhile, this bill brought in the name of ‘Protection of Americans from foreign controlled apps’ was drafted by Indian-born Democratic member Raja Krishnamurthy and Republican Representative Mike Gallaghe. Democratic member Krishnamurthy said that this bill is not related to TikTok ban. It is about Byte Dance controlling it.
He said that the ownership of TikTok is completely under its control. He revealed that the company is working under the control of the Chinese Communist Party. Krishnamurthy stated that the Byte Dance Editor-in-Chief is the highest position in the CCP, so the CCP is indirectly controlling TikTok. On the other hand, the former vice president and representative of the Republican Party, Mike Pence, said that it is not acceptable for the CPP-controlled TikTok to continue operating in America.
