The announcement of the dates of Lok Sabha elections 2024 has been waited for a long time, which is about to end now. Actually, the Election Commission has said that it will announce the dates of Lok Sabha elections 2024 and some state assembly elections on Saturday.
For this, the Election Commission has called a press conference at 3 pm. Before this, the Commission has held a meeting with the Election Commissioners. Today itself the new Election Commissioners Sukhbir Sandhu and Gyanesh Kumar have taken charge.
According to sources, during today’s meeting of the Election Commission, it was discussed how much force should be deployed in sensitive areas and states to conduct the elections in a fair, peaceful and better manner. Apart from this, various aspects like in how many phases can elections be conducted and in which states elections can be held first and in which states elections can be held later, have been discussed. Both the new Election Commissioners have also been given information about the entire election process.
According to sources, Lok Sabha elections can be conducted in 6 to 7 phases. During this period, the Commission can give 30 to 32 days’ time to political parties for campaigning and filing nominations. The first phase of elections may be held on 18 or 20 April. Results may come in the last week of May and after that the process of forming a new government will begin.

The tenure of the current Lok Sabha is ending on June 16.
The code of conduct will come into effect with the announcement of elections. Meanwhile, political parties are sweating profusely in the electoral arena and are busy attracting voters. NDA under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is trying to score a hat-trick, while the opposition has formed India Alliance to defeat PM Modi and is trying its best to stop NDA from coming to power for the third time.
After the implementation of the Code of Conduct, the present government will not be able to take or announce any new policy decision. The tenure of the current Lok Sabha is ending on June 16 and before that a new government will have to be formed. The last Lok Sabha elections were announced on March 10 and elections were conducted in seven phases from April 11. The results were declared on 23 May.
