Internet Desk: It is known that the Indian Navy has freed a commercial ship (MV Ruen) that was hijacked by Somali pirates.
In this order, the Navy revealed that a daring operation was conducted in the Arabian Sea for about 40 hours. As part of this, war boats were dropped in the sea from an Air Force aircraft (C-17) and Marine Commandos (MARCOS) were deployed.
The Maltese-flagged vessel was hijacked by pirates in December last year. The Indian Navy has found that it is being used to hijack ships of other countries. INS Kolkata, INS Subhadra and Sea Guardian drones were deployed to protect it. As part of the operation, the Air Force dropped two Small Arms Combat Boats (CRRC) at a precise location about 2600 km off the Indian coast through its ‘C-17’ cargo aircraft. Marine commandos also came down. A total of 17 hostages were freed and 35 pirates were detained.
The Navy said that the ship with 37,800 tons of equipment worth more than Rs.8 crores will be brought to Indian shores. It said that this victory demonstrates the joint operational capabilities of Air Force and Navy. It said that it demonstrates the commitment of Indian forces in strengthening peace and stability in international waters and preventing piracy. Meanwhile, Houthi rebels have been attacking commercial ships in the Red Sea for some time. In this background, our navy has deployed more than 10 warships to keep vigil on the respective waterways.
