Going to the ring in every IPL and finally coming home with empty hands.. Smriti Mandhana Sena gave a great treat at a time when RCB fans were waiting for their team to win the cup at least once. RCB won the WTL trophy and gifted the first title to the franchise. In the final match against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday, RCB won by 8 wickets. Failing in all fields, Delhi had to settle for the runner-up once again. Batting first in this match, the Delhi team collapsed for just 113 runs in just 18.3 overs. After that, the Bangalore team reached the target losing only 2 wickets in 19.3 overs.
RCB, who entered the ring with a target of 114 runs set by Delhi Capitals, played from the beginning. As the target was low, the openers kept the wickets of Smriti Mandhana and Sophie Devine and ran without reducing the run rate. RCB lost their first wicket when Shikha Pandey dismissed Devine (32 off 27 balls). Although Smriti Mandhana (31) was out for the team’s score of 82 runs, Ellis Perry (35 not out) and Richa Ghosh (17 not out) brought the team to victory. RCB rang the bell with three balls to spare.
Delhi won the toss and elected to bat. With openers Shefali Verma (44) and Lanning (23) playing aggressively, Delhi scored 64 runs in 7 overs. Sophie Molyneux breaks Delhi’s lead towards a big score. They lost three wickets in the same overs and took an irreparable blow. After that, Shreyanka Patil became the RCB batswoman. After breaking out with four wickets, Delhi were bowled out for a low score. Among the RCB bowlers, Shreyanka Patil took 4 wickets, Molyneux 3 and Asha Shobhana took 2 wickets.
