Unlike Padikattu Sutras…

In horror movies, it is common for ghosts with strange make-ups to scare the heroines as well as the main characters. Most horror movies are set in the backdrop of dilapidated bungalows and big buildings.

The movie Bhoothakaalam (Bhoothakaalam Review) goes completely different from such Padikattu principles. In a simple house with three rooms… without showing ghosts, director Rahul Sadashivan scared people with the movie of the past with only sound and visuals.

At the Hollywood level…

In the past, sound designing was at Hollywood level… Small drops of water falling from the tap, the sound of the hero eating, and the sound of rain are shown very naturally. Unlike regular horror movies, sound designing in Phutakalam is very new.

In the background of two characters…

The director has shown the emotion of the mother and son very well. A mother’s longing to get her son out of trouble, the conflict of a young man who is mentally disturbed because of the spirits in the house, unable to live as he likes, is shown in a natural way.

The film with a length of one hour and forty-three minutes mostly revolves around the characters of Revathi and Shane Nigam. The director’s talent is astonishing in the horror scenes of the climax scene. Those scenes make the audience shiver.

Love story is not enough…

In this horror movie, the love story feels forced. The love track and montage of the heroines were used to increase the length of the song. The first half does not move forward and feels like it is revolving around a single scene. But the interval twist is overwhelming. The story starts from there. The horror scenes in the climax are good but the ending of the story is not very convincing.

Revathi and Shane Nigam compete…

Revathi and Shane Nigam’s performance in this movie is not felt anywhere. They looked like real mother and son. Revathi’s performance in the role of a mother suffering from mental problems cannot be put even a notch. Lived in emotional scenes. Shane Nigam did full justice to the role of Vinu. Athira Patel’s song as the heroine was limited to only a few scenes.

Technically brilliant movie…

A unique horror movie that haunts the past. The Past stands out as a technically very brilliant movie. Revathi and Shane Nigam’s acting is a must watch movie.
