MLA Kavitha: On Tuesday morning, BRS MLA Kavitha was produced before Judge Kaveri Baweja by the Tihar Jail authorities as the judicial custody was about to be completed.
After 14 days of judicial custody, Kavitha was produced before the court by the jail authorities. Kavita’s judicial remand has been extended by Rouse Avenue court till 23rd of this month. In this background, the ED officials will again take him to Tihar Jail. The ED sought extension of judicial custody saying that the investigation of the case will be affected if Kavita is out.
The ED asked the court to continue the investigation into the Delhi Liquor Policy money laundering case and extend Kavitha’s judicial custody by 14 days. Kavita’s lawyer Rana stated that the ED has nothing new to extend Kavita’s judicial custody. Rana said that the case will be investigated from 2022 and Kavitha is an influential person from the beginning but there is nothing like that.
When Kavitha’s lawyer asked for permission to speak, Judge Kaveri Baweja refused to allow Kavitha to speak directly in the court. Kavita’s lawyer said that the accused has the right to speak directly. Judge Kaveri Baweja suggested that the application should be made. Kavitha’s lawyers filed an application to meet Kavita’s husband and uncle in court. The court gave permission to meet Kavitha in the court.
