A Biopic of football coach Abdul Rahim
Maidaan Movie is a biopic of football coach Syed Abdul Rahim. Ajay Devgn played the role of Rahim in this movie. The condition of Indian football is very bad right now. But how many people know that our team defeated the biggest football teams in the world in the new independence of the country a few decades ago.
The reason for that is this coach Syed Abdul Rahim. He was born in the erstwhile Hyderabad state. Abdul Rahim, born in 1909, initially worked as a schoolteacher. After that, he became a full-fledged football player. In the 1903s, he played for Khamar Club and European Club HSV Hoek for a few years. But in1905, Abdul Rahim’s name did not change even after he became the coach of the Hyderabad City police Club and the Indian National Teams.
Ten years after he became a coach is said to be a golden era for Indian football. as a coach, he led the Hyderabad City Police team to three-times Durand Cup winners and five-time Rovers Cup winners. But he did more miracles with the national team.
Under Rahim’s coaching, the Indian team has become the strongest football team in Asia. The Indian Team won the gold medal in the 19051 Asia Games. Later in the 1956 Olympics. Rahim retired as a coach with another gold medal in 1962 Asian Games.
Even after Rahim stepped down, the team he created women silver in1964 AFC Asian Cup. During Rahi’s tenure as coach, many European commentators described India as the Brazil of Asia. However, he retired from coaching in 1963 due to cancer.
He passed away at the age 53 in June of the same year. Now Ajay Devgan has made this Maidaan movie based on the life of the legendary coach. The movie is directed by Amit Rabindranath Sharma. Priyamani also acted in it.
