A priest was arrested in Kanpur after a minor girl got pregnant. Accused Sonu Hafeez had been raping a 14-year-old girl for the past few days and had given abortion pills to abort the girl’s pregnancy. Cases have been registered against Hafeez under POCSO and IPC Acts.
A girl who was three months pregnant was given abortion pills, and her health deteriorated. This atrocity came to light when the family members were informed about the incident. The girl was immediately admitted to the hospital and the doctors confirmed that the girl was 3 months pregnant. A religious leader used to sexually abuse a minor girl near a mosque in an outpost in Kanpur, police said.

On the complaint of family members, Kanpur police registered a case against the cleric. Police recorded the statement of the minor girl. She said that accused Hafeez used to lure her with expensive food items and drinks. The family members, who were afraid of Hafeez first, were afraid to complain about the harassment. The police are currently investigating the incident.
