Ayushman Bharat Diwas
: Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated every year on April 30, the last day of the April, to create awareness among people about the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, which is implemented with the aim of providing free health service to millions of Indians.
The government has called for celebrations on this day to inform people about the Ayushman Bharat scheme and what it aims to achieve. With this scheme, the government of India wants to ensure that everyone can get good healthcare that is covered by the government.
To provide health care to the poor, the Prime Minister has lunched the Jan Arogya Yojana through which free medical treatment will be provided in government hospitals and clinics. The scheme aims to make quality medical carefree and more accessible to millions of citizens.

Ayushman Bharat scheme was announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018. It has two main pillars.
- Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centers (AB-HWCs) Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centers aim to bring primary healthcare services closer to people’s homes.
- Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) It is a health insurance scheme that provides Rs.5 lakh per annum to economically backward families. Aims to provide cashless and affordable medical care.
Significance of Ayushman Bharat Diwas
Ayushman Bharat Diwas has several objectives. Chief among them is:
- Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated to inform people about the aim of Ayushman Bharat scheme and its benefits.
- Ayushman Bharat Yojana is the largest health scheme undertake by the Government of India. The scheme aims to provide financial protection to over 10 crore poor and vulnerable families in India.
- Eligible families can avail medical services up to Rs.5lakh per annum in government hospitals across the country.
- Government has created a new job called Ayushman Mitra in the health sector. A lot of youths are recruited for this.
- Hospitals have recruited Ayushman Mitra to provide employment to youth under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
- A good health insurance plan is required to avail the benefits of Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
