Paris Olympics:
Seven Indian shuttlers have qualified for the much-awaited Paris Olympics, including twin Olympics medalist PV Sindu, Kannadathi Ashwini Ponnappa also got Olympic ticket in women’s doubles.
According to International Badminton Federation’s Olympics qualification ranking. Monday was the final deadline to earn Olympic qualification.
Top 16 shuttlers in singles category have been qualified according to Olympics qualification ranking. While Sindhu is ranking 12th in women’s singles. Pranay and Lakshya Sen are ranked 9th and 13th respectively in men’s singles. Sindhu, who won the bronze medal in the last Tokyo Olympics, has been given a medical this time too, but Sindhu has not shown the expected performance for the past one year.
In men’s doubles, Satwik Sairaj and Chirag Shetty have already won many for India. Thus, India has placed a huge expectation on this pair. Ashwini Ponnapa and Tanisha Crasto will compete in women’s doubles. However, another Indian women’s doubles pair Trisa Joli-Gayatri Gopichand has not qualified.

Olympics Star on July 26
The date of Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony has been fixed. A grand event will be held on July 26 at 7:30 PM on the river Seine.
This is the first time in the history of Olympics that the opening ceremony will be held outside the stadium. More than 10,500 athletes will participate in the opening ceremony by parading in boats for about 6 Kilometers from Paris. The Games will be held from July 26 to August 11. This is the third tournament (after 1900 and 1924) to be hosted by Paris. 32 sports and 329 events are planned.
