India In T20 World Cups: Time is approaching for the T20 World Cup 2024 tournament will be held from 2nd June. The tournament will continue till June 29 at the venues of West Indies and America.
All cricket fans are waiting for the ninth edition of T20 World Cup. Team India is also preparing. However, here is how the Indian team has performed in the eight T20 World Cup editions played so far.
2007-Winner
The first edition of T20 World Cup was held in 2007. This mega tournament was held in South Africa. In this tournament, the young Indian team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni became the winner. He entered the ring without expectations and took the title. The India team became the winner in the first edition itself. In the final, India defeated long-time rivals Pakistan.
2009-Super 8
In the T20 World Cup 2009 tournament, India could not even reach the knockout stage. In that tournament, which was held in England, they reached home in the Super 8 stage. Although they won against England in Super 8, they lost against West Indies and South Africa.

2010-Super 8
In the 2010 T20 World Cup held in the West Indies, Dhoni’s captaincy team was eliminated in the Super 8 stage. In the third edition, India could not even reach the semis.
2012-Super 8
In the 2012 edition of the T20 World Cup held in Sri Lanka, India could not go past the Super 8. Even though they won two third in the Super 8 stage, they were eliminated due to Netran’s rate.
2014-Runner up
In the 2014 T20 World Cup, Team India has been rocking from the start. Reached the semis with a bang. In the semis, under Dhoni’s captaincy. Team India won a thrilling victory over South Africa. However, Sri Lanka gave a shock to India in the final. India became the runner-up after losing to Sri Lanka in the final. This tournament was held in Bangladesh.
2016-Semifinals
In the 2016 T20 World Cup tournament held at home, India lost in the semifinals. India, who played brilliantly till then in the tournament, were defeated by the West Indies in the semis.
2021-Super 12
India performance poorly in the 2021 T20 World Cup held in UAE and Oman. Under the captaincy of Virat Kohli, India retreated in the Super 12 stage of this tournament.
2022-Semifinals
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India entered the 2022 T20 World Cup ring. However, they lost in the semifinals. India was once again disappointed after losing to England in the semis.
In the 8 editions of the T20 World Cup held so far, India has become the winner once. The title was taken in the first win the T20 World Championship.
