The Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) YAK130 trainer fighter jet was returning to base after training around 10:25am when it crashed. In this, Wing commander Sohan Hasan Khaan squadron Leader Asim Jawad were on board and came out of the jet. The video shows the pilot landing with a parachute.
The two pilots who landed in the river were rescued by Air Force, Navy and local fishermen. Asim Jawad was taken to hospital where he died while able to take the plane from a densely populated area near the airport to a less populated area. BAF constituted a committee to investigate the accident.
