DC vs LSG: Rajasthan reached the playoffs due to Delhi’s victory, Lucknow lost by 19 runs

Delhi Captains defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 19 runs. Ishant Sharma played an important role in the team’s victory by taking 3 wickets for DC. Delhi had scored a huge score of 208 runs while playing first.

While chasing this big target, the LSG batsmen could not make big partnerships. Nicholas Pooran scored the most runs for Lucknow.  Pooran hits 6 fours and 4 sixes during his stormy innings of 61 runs in 27 balls. Apart from Marcus Stoinis, who scored a century in IPL 2024, Captain KL Rahul and many other batsmen could not even touch the double-digit mark in terms of runs. Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav also bowled well for Delhi Captains. With this win, Delhi has 14 points, but due to poor net run-rate, DC’s chances of going to the playoffs seem very low. Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals have qualified for the playoffs due to LSG’s loss.

Lucknow Super Giants, who came out to chase a big target, had a very bad start. LSG lost the tickets of both the openers in the form of KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock within 24 hours. By the end of the powerplay, LSG’s score was 59 runs, but on the other side Deepak Hooda was out for zero and Ayush Badoni for only 6 runs. Pooran was batting in a rapid style, but in the 12th over Mukesh Kumar got him caught out by Arshad Patel. Meanwhile, there was a partnership of 33 runs between Krunal Pandya and Arshad Khan, but in the 15th over Krunal was out after scoring 18 runs in 18 balls. Lucknow needed 74 runs to win in the last 5 overs.

The situation was such that Delhi had to score 42 runs in the last 3 overs and meanwhile Arshad Khan completed his fifty in 25 balls. Mukesh Kumar gave only 6 runs in the 19th over, due to which LSG had to score 23 runs in the last 6 balls to win. Rasikh Dar Salam gave only 3 runs in the last over, due to which Delhi on this match by over, due to which Delhi on this match by 19 runs. For Lucknow, Arshad Khan played an unbeaten innings of 58 runs in 33 balls.

Delhi showed strength in batting first

Delhi opener jake Fraser McGurk could not show anything amazing today, who was out on a score of zero. Meanwhile, Abhishek Porel hit 5 fours and 4 sixes during his blazing innings of 58 runs in 33 balls. He had a 92-run partnership with Shai Hope, who scored 38 runs in 27 balls. Rishabh Pant played an innings of 33 runs in 23 balls, in the last overs and also hit 3 fours and 4 sixes during this innings.

Delhi’s unique experiments in bowling

In the match against Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals captain Rishant Pant did a unique experiment and used 8 bowlers. Ishant Sharma, Mukesh Kumar and Kuldeep Yadav were the only their bowlers who completed 4 overs of their respective spells. Ishant took 3 wickets, while Kuldeep and Mukesh could take only one wicket each. Apart from him, Khalil Ahmed, Akshar Patel and Tristan Stubbs also showed their magic with the ball and took one wicket each.
