12 people died in Malda district of West Bengal on Thursday due to lightning strikes at different places. Two others were seriously injured. According to the police.
Two minors are said to be among the dead. On the other hand, a couple died due to lightning in Harish Chandrapur. The accident happened while working in the field. District Magistrate Nitin Singhania has announced that compensation of Rs 2 lakh will be given to the families of those who died due to lightning. He said that those who died due to lightning will be given Rs 2 lakh each from the calamity fund.
He said that all kinds of government assistance will be provided. He said that the government would provide all kinds of assistance to the families of the deceased.
Heavy rain accompanied by thunder occurred in Malda on Thursday afternoon. At this time… three persons including a minor were killed in Sahapur in Old Malda due to lightning. The deceased have been identified as Chandan Sahni (40), Manojit Mandal (21) and Raj Mirdha (16). The police said that if the mangoes fell due to the wind, they died in the process of picking them up.
On the other hand, n inter student died due to lightning in Adina, Gajol. Two minors and an old man lost their lives due to lightning in Maniksha block. The deceased have been identified as Sheikh Sabrul (11). rana shaikh (11) and Atul Mandal (65).
In Harish Chandrapur too, a couple died due to lightning. Nayan Roy (23) and Priyanka Singh (20) were killed by lightning while working in a jute plantation in East Kustharia village. On the other hand, Pankaj Mandal (23) was killed by lightning while working in the agricultural land under Angrej bazar police station. Two others including the bride were injured in the lightning incident.
