Kyrgyzstan Student Attack
Medical students were attacked by a mob in Kyrgyzstan, many videos of which are going viral. Local people are targeting Indian students along with Pakistan students. some reports say that 3 Pakistan students have been killed, while there are also reports of rape of some girl students. However, no official statement has been issued on this yet. After the videos related to the violence surfaced, the Pakistan Embassy has advised the students to stay inside the hostel.
The Pakistani Embassy in Kyrgyzstan on Saturday asked Pakistani students not to go out. Pakistan’s ambassador Hassan Zaigham said in a social media post, the embassy is liaising with local law enforcement officials to ensure the safety of Pakistani students. He also issued helpline numbers +996555554476 and +996507567667. Students have been asked to call these numbers in case of emergency.
The Indian government took step
The Indian government is also keeping an eye on the situation of Indian students. The Indian embassy said that the situation is calm at the moment. India’s foreign Minister S Jaishankar retweeted the embassy’s post and said, the situation of Indian students in Bishkek is being monitored. The situation is calm right now. According to foreign Ministry data, about 14,500 Indian students live in Kyrgyzstan.
Kyrgyzstan, which shares borders with China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, is a favorite place for medical studies. Around 12,000 Pakistani students are pursuing different course here. Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also expressed deep concern over the situation in Bishkek. He has said that the country’s envoy in Bishkek has been instructed to provide all necessary help and support to the students.
Why did the violence start?
In fact, on May 13, some Egyptian students living in a hostel had a fight with local Kyrgyz people. They beat them up. The local people protested against this. Some were arrested in this, but the real people were not caught. Some people alleged that the people who fought were Pakistanis, due to which the Pakistani students came under the wrath of the people of Kyrgyzstan. After this incident, Pakistani students were targeted on Saturday night. They were taken out of their flats and beaten up. Girls were misbehaved with. The attackers also stole the mobiles and laptops of the students. Some students were beaten up after breaking the door.
