Why is Anti-Terrorism Day celebrated only on 21May?

After the brutal assassination of former Prime Minister of India, Rajiv Gandhi on 21 May 1991, this day was declared to be celebrated as National Anti-Terrorism Day.

Actually, Rajiv Gandhi had gone to Sriperumbudur (Tamil Nadu) to participate in an election rally. Before the rally, Rajiv Gandhi was moving forward accepting the greetings of the people, when a woman member of the Liberation of Tamil Tigers Eelam (LTTE), who had hidden explosives inside her clothes, detonated the explosive on the pretext of touching Rajiv Gandhi’s feet. Suddenly, a huge cloud of smoke rose from the loud explosion, by the time the smoke settled, 25 people present there including Rajiv Gandhi were blown to pieces. A large number of people were also injured. Since then, 21st May is being celebrated as Terrorism Day in memory of Rajiv Gandhi.
