Rangayana Raghu, Gopalakrishna Deshpande and Vinay UJ starrer Kannada movie Shakhahaari recently released on Amazon Prime OTT. Sandeep Sunkad directed this movie which is a murder mystery thriller. Has this movie, which was a commercial hit with critical acclaim in theaters, pleased the OTT audience? Or? That is?
The story of Subbanna hotel.
Subbanna (Rangayana Raghu) runs a tiffin center. Not married even after fifty years. He lives alone as he has no relatives expect his younger brother. Vijay (Vinay Yuje) is an orphan. He completes his studies with a scholarship and gets a job in BSF. He marries a girl named Saugandhika (Nidhi Hegde). Vijay had to stay away from Saugandhika for two years for training just a few days after his marriage. At this time, Saugandhika starts dating another boy.
Knowing the truth from a friend, Vijay comes home to stop his wife. Unexpectedly, Saadhika becomes an accused in the murder case. Vijay escapes from the police to prove himself innocent and hides in Subbanna’s hotel with a bullet wound. After hearing Vijay’s entire story, Subbanna takes pity on him and agrees to give him shelter till he recovers from his injury.
Mallikharjuna (Gopalakrishna Devpande) SI. Transfer due to family responsivities. Vijay reluctantly agrees when the higher authorities tell him to finish one case and leave. But when Vijay escapes from custody, Mallikharjuna gets into trouble. If Vijay is not caught, he will not only lose his job but also go to jail. Vijay, who is talking refuge with Subbanna, falls ill and dies.

Some films cannot be seen in a commercial sense. These movies do not have commercial elements like comedy, action and love tracks that are seen in regular movies. Rarely do such experimental films come which believe in the story rather than the images of the actors. Shakhahaai is a movie belonging to a group.
Murder Mystery Thriller.
Director Sandeep Sunkad has directed this movie as a murder mystery thriller based on the lives of three people: a young man becomes guilty for a mistake he did not commit… a police officer who is torn between family responsivities and professional management… a middle-aged man who runs a small hotel without any restrictions.
No heroes
There are no heroes in a vegetarian movie. The director has written each character very naturally to resemble the people we see around us in real life. Subbanna’s character is the highlight of this movie. IT is a risk to make a film showing a man who is over fifty years old as a hero. The director was successful in this regard. The director has wonderfully written the character of Subbanna as the hero, villain, comedian, lover boy of a kind of vegetarian movie.
Crime Elements.
The scenes of Subbanna’s plan to get out of the crime and get into trouble while trying to help a young man in distress are gripping. The director’s idea to add a love story to Subbanna’s character event at the age of fifty is good. That love story shown sensibly.
Police investigation.
The investigation done by SI Mallikarjuna to catch Vijay is impressive. His character as a police officer who wants to do justice to his profession while struggling with family responsivities are pleasing in the background scenes. The director directed the story of Vinay Prema… Pelli naturally
In the climax, the director has shown his mastery. Mallikarjuna wants to catch Subbanna… Subbanna’s attacks on one another to find no evidence related to the crimes he has committed are exciting. The movie ends with a surprising climax.
