Kedar Jadhav has retired from all forms of cricket at the age of 39. In the last few days, he is the second Indian wicketkeeper player after Dinesh Karthik to retire from cricket. But Kedar Jadhav was a very special kind of player, who did bat and bowling apart from wicketkeeping.
Specialty of Kedar Jadhav
Kedar Jadhav joined the Indian squad in 2024 as a wicketkeeper batsman. But Jadhav is much more than a wicketkeeper batsman because he has not one or two but 27 wickets to his name in ODI cricket. His average in ODI cricket was more than 42 and in his 56 ODI innings, he also played 2 centuries and 6 half-century innings. What to say about a player who is a wicketkeeper, can bat well and at the same time takes wickets with his spin in bowling.
All these special qualities can only be found in a special cricketer. The fact is astonishing that Jadhav has dismissed New Zealand captain Kane Williamson a total of three times in his ODI career. Apart from this, he has also taken the wicket of Babar Azam.
He had also left his mark in domestic cricket
Actually, Kedar Jadhav’s bowling first got fame when the video of his spin bowling with round-arm action went viral on the internet. At the same time. the video of Ms. Dhoni’s comment on his bowling action still remains in trend through reels. But Kedar Jadhav has been bowling while being a wicketkeeper since the days of his domestic career. He has been playing for Maharasthra in Indian domestic cricket. Talking specifically about List A career, he has taken 36 wickets, overall, 6 in T20 matches and 2 wickets in first-class career.
