According to the information, there is a story behind celebrating Father’s Day. This story is the story of Sonora, the daughter of William Jackson Smart of the American Civil War. Sonora lived in Spokane, Washington. Her mother died when she was about to give birth to small children. After her father mother’s death, Sonora lived with her father and younger brother and raised them. Sonora wanted to honor her father in the same way as Sonora’s father took care of all the children.
A sermon was given on Mother’s Day by the Bishop of Spokane Central Methodist Episcopal Church, after listening to which Sonora through that fathers should also get the same respect. With this in mind, Sonora spoke to the Ministerial Alliance of Nespokon and asked them to celebrate her father’s birthday. June 5, as Father’s Day for al the fathers in the world.
