Narendra Modi Oath Ceremony
Narendra Modi is going to take oath as the Prime Minster of India for the third time on Sunday (9 June) in the capital Delhi. BJP, which has formed the government with full majority twice, has got a chance to return to power this time through allies. However, Narendra Modi has been chosen as the leader of the BJP-led NDA. In such a situation, he is going to take oath as PM today at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
A stream of foreign guests including heads of state of many countries is going to come to Delhi today. The capital has been converted into a cantonment for the swearing-in ceremony. However, while there is discussion about the swearing-in of Narendra Modi on one hand, there is also talk about former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. The reason for this is Narendra Modi himself, who has equaled a record of the first Prime Minister Nehru.

Which record of Jawaharlal Nehru was equaled
Actually, Narendra Modi is the second leader to become PM for the third consecutive time after the Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru had achieved the feat of becoming Prime Minister three times in a row by winning the general elections of 1952., 1957 and 1962. After almost 6 decades, Modi has once again done this feat. He is also the first non-Congress leader to do so. It is worth nothing here that even former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi could not do this despite being at the peak of her politics.
Indira was the Prime Minister of India from January 1966 to March 1977. After this, she became Prime Minister again on 14 January 1980. However, even though Modi has equaled one record of Nehru, he has been able to break another record. Nehru had won an absolute majority in his third election in 1962. In the general elections 2024, Modi’s BJP has won 240 seats, which was 32 less than the majority figure i.e. 272 seats. Because of this, it is forming the government with the help of its allies.
Jawaharlal Nehru served as the Prime Minister of India from 1947 to 1964, a period of 16 years and 286 days. The first general election of 1951-1952, then the elections of 1957 and 1962 saw the Congress Party win a majority and Nehru was elected Prime Minister. In 1962, general elections were held in India between 19 and 25 February.
In its third election, the Nehru-led Congress returned to power with a big majority, winning 44.7 percent of the vote and 361 of the 494 seats. A majority in 1962 required 248 seats. However, Nehru died in the middle of his third term in May 1964.
