Finally, Team India defeated South Africa after 17 years and won the T20 World Cup title. In this hair-raising match, Team India snatched the victory from the jaws of South Africa and lifted the ICC trophy after a long wait of 11 years.
Chasing a target of 177 runs, South Africa was at one point close to victory and needed only 26 runs from 24 balls. Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller were standing in the middle of the field as the biggest hurdle in Team India’s victory. Klaasen was playing after scoring 52 runs from 26 balls.
The match changed on the first ball of the 17th over
26 runs were needed from 24 balls and Rohit handed the ball to Hardik Pandya. Hardik did not disappoint him and got Heinrich Klaasen out at the hands of Rishabh Pant on an outside ball. As soon as Klaasen was out, Team India made a comeback in the match. Klaasen played an innings of 52 runs from 27 balls. Hardik gave only 4 runs in this over.
Bumrah gave 2 runs in the 18th over
The 18th over was bowled by Team India’s magician Jasprit Bumrah and in this over he not only took the wicket of Marco Jansen but also gave only 2 runs and made Team India come back strongly in the match. On the fourth ball of the 18th over, Bumrah did not let Jansen even get air and defeated him.

A well-planned over by Singh is King
20 runs were to be scored in 12 balls and dangerous David Miller was present at the crease and Keshav Maharaj was supporting him, but Arshdeep Singh conceded only 4 runs in this over and took Team India closer to victory, but the threat named Miller was still present in the middle of the field. Scoring 16 runs in the last over was not a difficult task for a batsman like Miller, but Team India had come today determined that they will not miss it today.

As feared, Hardik hit a shot on the very first ball at mid-off. Seeing the shot, the entire 150 crore countrymen were left breathless, but Suryakumar Yadav, standing on the boundary line, took the best catch of his cricket career and sealed Team India’s historic victory. In a match that went on till the last ball, India defeated South Africa by 7 runs. The kind of catch Surya took reminded of the catch taken by Kapil Dev in the 1983 World Cup. After this catch by Surya, only formality was left in the match. Hardik gave 8 runs in the remaining 5 balls and the Indian team won the T20 World Cup after a wait of 11 years.
