Nagpur Mercedes Crash
Four months ago, a woman in Nagpur city had run over two people while driving a Mercedes car under the influence of alcohol (Nagpur Mercedes Accident). Now the woman has surrendered before the police.
Officials gave this information. The accused woman has been identified as Ritika alias Ritu Malu. The woman was questioned at the city police station on Monday. Later in the evening, the woman was arrested.
Last month, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court refused to grant anticipatory bail to the woman. ‘No sensible person drives after drinking alcohol. The court had described it as serious.’ The incident took place on February 25 on Ram Jhule bridge in Nagpur.
When the woman drove her car recklessly under the influence of alcohol and hit two people riding a two-wheeler. Both Mohammad Hussain Ghulam Mustafa and Mohammad Atif Mohammad Zia were seriously injured in the accident.
The woman was initially booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Motor Vehicles Act for reckless driving and causing injury to people. But later after the outrage of the people and seeing the seriousness of the accident, the police filed additional criminal charges against the woman.
