Ravindra Jadeja Replacement
On Sunday, star Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja shocked the world when he decided to quit the T20I format. The 35-year-old Jadeja had a below-par performance with the bat and ball in the T20 World Cup, leaving many fans surprised.
He is the third player to retire after Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma decided to quit the format. The 35-year-old has played 74 matches for India, scoring 515 runs with the bat and taking 54 wickets with the ball.
Ravindra Jadeja’s retirement will leave a big void in the Indian team as they prepare for the next T20 World Cup to be held in India and Sri Lanka in 2026. On that note, let’s take a look at the young players who can replace Ravindra Jadeja in Team India’s T20 squad.
Axar Patel: The young all-rounder had a big hand in Team India’s second T20 World Cup trophy win, scoring a fine 47 runs and an important wicket in the final. Apart from that, he has also scored 453 runs in 60 matches along with 58 wickets. He made his T20I debut in 2015 but has been in and out of the team since then. But now after Jadeja’s retirement, his place in the team can be confirmed.
Nitish Reddy: The young all-rounder from Sunrisers Hyderabad has performed brilliantly with the bat during the IPL 2024 season. Not only is the youngster good with the bat, but he is also a competent medium pacer who can bowl at a good pace.
Krunal Pandya: The lefty all-rounder has the ability to bowl fast and economically just like Jadeja. Apart from this, the Gujarat-born player also has valuable experience of bowling in different conditions of the game. One of the specialties of Hardik Pandya’s elder brother is that he is skilled as a left-arm spinner who prefers to in-bounce the ball rather than giving it too much air like Jadeja.
