Social media users started claiming that Miller had announced his retirement from T20 Internationals a few days after the final (David Miller T20I Retirement News). However, the left-handed batsman dismissed those rumors and confirmed that he has not retired from the format.

Miller wrote in his Instagram story (David Miller Instagram Story on Retirement False News), “Contrary to some reports, I have not retired from T20 International cricket. I will be available to play for the Proteas. The best is yet to come.”

In the last over (David Miller on Last Over Catch by Suryakumar), Miller, known for his brilliant, breakthrough and match-winning performances for the Proteas, attempted a big shot when 16 runs were needed from six balls. However, the ball reached Suryakumar Yadav near the boundary, who took a brilliant catch to turn the match completely in India’s Favour and the batsman was dismissed for 21 runs.

The Men in Blue won their second ICC T20 World Cup title with a seven-run win. On Monday, Miller wrote on Instagram, “I am so sad!! It is really hard to swallow what happened 2 days ago. Words cannot describe what I am feeling. One thing I know is how proud I am of this team. This journey has been incredible, with ups and downs throughout the month. We have suffered, but I know that this team has resilience, and it will raise its level in the future as well.” In nine matches, Miller scored 169 runs in the tournament at an average of 28.16, including one half-century and a strike rate of 102.42.
