Gautam Gambhir Head Coach
BCCI secretary Jay Shah on Tuesday confirmed Gautam Gambhir as the head coach of the Indian team. Gautam Gambhir will replace Rahul Dravid, whose tenure ended after the ICC T20 World Cup.
Under the leadership of Rahul Dravid, the Indian team reached the finals of the ICC World Test Championship, ODI World Cup, where it had to face defeat on both occasions. At the same time, the Indian team was successful in winning the T20 World Cup title under Dravid as the head coach. The Indian team also won the Asian Championship title under Dravid as the coach. The Indian team has registered many historic victories under Dravid as the coach. During this time, he also got the support of batting coach Vikram Rathore, bowling coach Paras Mhambrey and fielding coach T Dilip. At the same time, with the end of Dravid’s tenure, the tenure of these three has also ended.
The BCCI has thanked Dravid as well as these three in the press release issued on Tuesday regarding Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as the head coach. The BCCI wrote in its press release, “The Board would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Dravid for his outstanding service as the head coach. Dravid’s tenure was marked by significant achievements, most notably becoming the champion of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, 2024. Team India was the runner-up in the ICC 50-over World Cup held in India, and the ICC World Test Championship in 2023 held in England in 2023.”
