Opener Gul Feroza’s brilliant half-century and her century partnership with Muniba Ali helped Pakistan keep alive their hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the Women’s Asia Cup T20 cricket tournament by defeating Nepal by nine wickets with 49 balls to spare here on Sunday.
Nepal’s team was invited to bat first and could only score 108 runs for six wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Pakistan scored 110 runs for one wicket in 11.5 overs and registered an easy win.

Firoza scored 57 runs with the help of 10 fours in 35 balls while Muniba scored an unbeaten 46 runs in 34 balls, which included eight fours. Both of them shared a 105-run partnership for the first wicket. Pakistan’s team lost to India in the first match while Nepal defeated the United Arab Emirates. Pakistan improved its net run rate with a big win in this match. Both it and Nepal have equal two points each. Pakistan has to play its last match of Group A against the United Arab Emirates while Nepal has to play against India.
Pakistan’s bowlers, led by left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal, bowled tightly and restricted Nepal to a low score. Sadia took two wickets for 19 runs. Kavita Joshi scored the highest 31 runs for Nepal. Sita Rana Magar contributed 26 runs. Three Nepali batsmen were run out.
