On the occasion of 25th Kargil Vijay Divas, Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to Kargil in Jammu and Kashmir. Tributes were paid to the martyrs who fought heroically in the war and sacrificed their lives at the Kargil War Memorial.

“I would like to say that the evil plans of those who foster terrorism will never succeed. Pakistan has failed in all its evil attempts in the past. But Pakistan has not learned anything from its history. It is trying to save itself with the help of terrorism and indirect war. … Their evil intentions will always succeed. I want to tell those who promote terrorism not to,” Modi said.

Modi said that the Indian army will suppress terrorism with full force and will give a bold reply to the enemies. He said that India will overcome every challenge that comes as an obstacle to development, be it Ladakh or Jammu and Kashmir.

India celebrates Kargil Vijay Divas on July 26 every year to commemorate the victory of Operation “Vijay” in 1999. In this war, the Indian forces successfully recaptured the strategic bases in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir where Pakistani soldiers and terrorists had infiltrated.

The Kargil War Memorial, also known as the Drass War Memorial, was built by the Indian Army to commemorate the sacrifices of the soldiers. It is located in the Kargil district of the union territory of Ladakh near the Line of Control (LoC).

On the occasion of 25th Vijay Divas, President Draupadi Murmu and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh paid tributes to the soldiers who died in the Kargil war.

President Murmu tweeted, “Kargil Vijay Divas is a great opportunity to pay tribute to the extraordinary bravery and courage of our armed forces and remember their struggle. I pay tribute to every soldier who sacrificed their lives protecting Mother India on the hills of Kargil in 1999, and bow my head to their holy memory,” President Murmu tweeted.

Chief of Defense Staff General Anil Chauhan said that the sacrifices of soldiers in the 1999 Kargil war were not in vain. He said that this will not only inspire the soldiers but also the youth of the country for future generations.

Not only Vijay Divas.. so far PM Modi has gone to Kargil on many occasions. Diwali celebrations were also held with the soldiers there.

On the other hand, as part of his visit to Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister will start the work of the Shinkun La Tunnel project virtually. The Shinkun La Tunnel project consists of a 4.1 km long twin tube tunnel project. It is being built at an altitude of about 15,800 feet on the Nimu-Padum-Darcha road to provide all-weather connectivity to Leh. Once completed, it will be the tallest tunnel in the world. The Shinkun La tunnel ensures fast-efficient movement of the country’s armed forces and equipment. Promote economic and social development in Ladakh.
