Kolkata rape case
The victim’s father spoke to the media amid nationwide protests against the rape and murder of Kolkata doctor Rali. The authorities expressed doubts over the claim that she was killed in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
“It is suspected that our child was killed in another room and brought to the seminar hall. The negligence of the Kolkata police was seen. It is doubtful whether our child was actually killed in the seminar hall itself. It seems that he was killed elsewhere and taken there. We have explained this matter to the CBI,” said the victim’s Kolkata doctor’s father.
The comments by the victim’s father sparked a debate amid allegations that repairs were being made to the seminar hall on the third floor of the hospital to erase key evidence related to the Kolkata doctor’s murder.
He said that his daughter was working in the Outpatient Department (OPD), left home at 8.10 am and last spoke to her mother at 11.15 pm.
“My daughter went to duty at 8.10 am that day. She was working in the OPD and last spoke to her mother at 11.15 pm. In the morning my wife tried to call, and the phone rang but she did not answer as my daughter had already passed away,” revealed the deceased’s father.
The father of the victim expressed his grief that those who are protesting against the murder of a Kolkata doctor are like my own children.
“One of my daughters died. But for one, thousands of my daughters and sons joined the streets today. Protests are pouring in from Bangladesh to all corners of the world. We need justice,” said the Kolkata doctor’s father.

The parents of the victim told the CBI that they believe that many interns and doctors of the hospital may be involved in the murder of their daughter. They have also provided the names of the suspects to the central agency which is investigating the case as directed by the Calcutta High Court.
The agency is focusing on questioning these people as well as the Kolkata Police officials involved in the initial investigation. The CBI on Friday issued summons to the house staff member and two post graduate trainees who were on duty along with the doctor on the night of the murder.
The former principal of the hospital, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, was also taken for questioning by the authorities. Dr Ghosh, who resigned two days after the body was found, feared for his safety. His lawyer then approached the Calcutta High Court. The High Court ordered to approach a single bench.
As part of the investigation, the CBI officials conducted crime scene reconstruction and 3D tracking in the seminar hall of the hospital. On August 9, the body of a postgraduate trainee was found in the seminar room of RG Kar Hospital, and the next day, a man working as a volunteer in the same hospital was arrested by the police.
