During this, the District Commissioner honored her for her achievements. Manu, along with her family, worshiped the Kamdhenu cow in the Gaushala. She also thanked all the people who supported her and said that she will work harder to win gold next time.
Manu said, “It felt great to win two medals in the Paris Olympics. There was hope for the third one as well but there was a little regret. I will try my best in the future as well and gold should also remain in the target. There were many difficulties in the initial days, but my family and my team always supported me completely. I would like to thank everyone. The government is also making every possible effort to help the players.” On journalists’ questions about marriage, Manu Bhaker shyly said, “Right now my focus is only on sports. Will think about it in the future.
Currently there is a three-month break from sports.” Jhajjar District Commissioner Captain Shakti Singh was also present on this occasion. He said that the daughter of our country has increased our prestige abroad. This is a special occasion for Jhajjar district because out of the total six medals won by the country in Paris, three medals were won by the players here. Aman Sehrawat has also increased our prestige by winning a medal. Pistol shooter Manu Bhaker became the first Indian woman to win a medal in shooting at the Olympics. Apart from this, she became the first Indian athlete to win multiple medals in a single edition of the Games after independence.
Also, along with Sarabjot Singh, she became the first Indian shooting pair to win an Olympic medal in shooting. Overall, this was India’s sixth Olympic medal in shooting. Wrestler Aman Sehrawat became India’s youngest individual Olympic medalist at the age of 21 years, 0 months and 24 days after securing a bronze medal in the 57kg men’s freestyle wrestling. He bettered the record of shuttler PV Sindhu, who was 21 years 1 month and 14 days old when she won a silver medal at the Rio Olympics 2016.
