World Longest Train
The longest train in the world is named ‘The Australian BHP Iron Ore’. It is not a passenger but a goods train. This train first ran on 21 June 2001.
The length of this train from the engine to the last compartment is 7.3 km. This train has 8 locomotive engines, and 682 coaches used for transporting coal.
Not only long… Australian BHP Iron Ore also holds the distinction of being the heaviest train. Running from Andy Mine to Port Hedland Beach in Australia, the train covers a distance of 275 kilometers. It will take 10 hours. The capacity of the train is 82,000 tons of iron ore.

It is the longest train in the world with 682 coaches. The length of this train is estimated to be 24 Eiffel Towers. Many people also doubt whether one or two engines will be enough to pull this longest train. However, it is reported that 8 engines are required to run this train. The weight of this train is about one lakh tons.

The company built this railway line and train for transporting iron ore. Due to lack of demand, the number of coaches in this train has now been reduced to 270. Engines are reportedly downsized to 4 instead of 8.
This train beat South Africa’s longest train to win the title of longest train. There are 660 coaches in that train. Known as the ‘Mount Newman Railway’, this train is run by a single driver.
