Shivamogga Airport
Shimoga is one of the airports that are becoming popular day by day in Karnataka. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the airport at Sogane village in Shivamogga taluk on 27.02.2023.
Indigo Airlines started first flight on Bangalore-Shivamogga route from 31.08.2023. At present there are flight services from Shimoga to Malenada Hebbhagil to various cities.
Shivamogga is the first airport in the state which is managed by the Government of Karnataka. The Karnataka State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation oversees the operation and maintenance of the airport. The Corporation has deployed the required human resources for Shivamogga Airport.
On October 10, SpiceJet started the flight service between Shivamogga-Hyderabad and Shivamogga-Chennai. There are currently flights from Shivamogga to Bangalore, Hyderabad, Tirupati, Goa. It is expected that more flights will arrive in the city if the night flight landing facility is inaugurated at the airport.
Former Chief Minister B. said that an airport should be constructed in Shimoga to facilitate Shivamogga, Chitradurga, Davangere and Chikkamagaluru districts. S. Yeddyurappa was a dream. When he was the Chief Minister in 2019, he removed the obstacles to the project and released the grant from the government and launched the project.
The airport at Sogane village in Shimoga taluk has the 3rd longest runway in the state. The runway is designed to facilitate the landing of even an Airbus type aircraft. A fully equipped airport has been constructed in an area of about 662.38 acres. The work has been carried out to enable the aircraft to land even in bad weather and at night. It will be completed soon.

* Star Air. Goa-Shivamogga. Depart Goa at 3.50 PM and arrive Shivamogga at 4.40 PM.
* Indigo. Bangalore-Shivamogga. Depart Bangalore at 12.15 PM and arrive Shivamogga at 1.25 PM. Departure from Shimoga at 1.45 pm.
* Spice Jet. Chennai-Shivamogga. Depart Chennai at 10.40 am and arrive Shivamogga at 12.10 pm. Departure from Shimoga at 4.25 pm.
* Spice Jet. Hyderabad-Shivamogga. Depart Hyderabad at 2.40 PM and arrive Shivamogga at 4 PM. Departure for Hyderabad at 5.10 pm.
