Presidential elections are currently going on in Russia for which voters are casting their votes. Not only in the country but also Russian people living all over the world have exercised their voting rights to elect the President.

In this series, Russian citizens also voted in large numbers in Kerala, India. About 60 Russians and tourists settled in the state on Thursday cast their advance votes for the Russian presidential election at a specially arranged booth at Russian House, the Honorary Consulate of the Russian Federation in the capital city.

It is being told that Russian voters mostly came from Ernakulam, Varkala and Kovalam to participate in the election process in Kerala. The eighth presidential election in Russia will be held from March 15 to 17. Four candidates are vying for the presidency, including outgoing President Vladimir Putin who is seeking another six-year term. These votes will be counted after the final phase of voting for the presidential election in Russia ends on March 17.

India facilitated the voting process by setting up polling stations not only in the Russian House but also in various diplomatic missions across the country, including the Russian Embassy in Delhi and consulates in cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Calcutta, Goa and Koodamkulam.

The voting process in Thiruvananthapuram used traditional paper ballots, with completed ballots sent back to Moscow through diplomatic channels from Chennai.

Russia’s Honorary Consul Rathish C. Nair said, “This is the third time Russians have held elections for the Russian House. Previously, voting was held twice for Russian presidential and parliamentary elections. Also, this time, the number of voters has exceeded expectations.”

The election process was supervised by Sergei Azarov, Senior Consul at the Russian Consulate General, Chennai, Deputy Consul Alexey Tarasov Rathish C. Nair and Deputy Director of the Russian House Kavita Nair.
