Delhi Liquor Policy Case: CBI will present MLC Kavitha, who was arrested in Delhi liquor scam, in the court today. The authorities arrested Kavitha yesterday and took her to the CBI headquarters.
He will be produced before the court this morning and will be taken into custody. More details will come out only if the CBI questions Kavitha who has played a key role in the Delhi liquor scam. The CBI charged that Kavitha acted as a middleman between the South Group and the AAP and was instrumental in paying donations of 100 crores. CBI questioned Kavitha in Tihar Jail on 6th of this month. Kavitha challenged the CBI’s questioning in the court. She was arrested by the CBI before the trial of the case.
Kavita approached the Rouse Avenue court challenging the CBI’s arrest. An application was urgently filed before the CBI Special Court. Kavitha’s lawyers argued that the CBI had arrested her without giving notice. Her lawyers will file the application before the regular court this morning as directed by the judge. Looking at the situation, it seems doubtful that Kavita will come out of jail now. In the liquor case, she was completely caught in the frame of ED and CBI. Kavitha was arrested by the ED on March 15 and was sent to Tihar Jail after interrogation.
Now she has been arrested on a CBI PT warrant. If she is given to CBI custody, the authorities will take her to the CBI office and question her. Even if the ED court grants bail to Kavitha, she will have to remain in jail with the CBI case. She will be released only if the CBI court also grants bail. Getting bail in ED and CBI cases is not that easy. In the past, in many cases, the accused were in jail for a month. In this liquor case, AAP leader Manish Sisodia was in Tihar jail for many months. If you look at the whole, it looks like you have to stay in jail for months.
