They will be responsible for the first semi-final
England’s Richard Illingworth and India’s Nitin Menon will be the field umpires in the first semi-final between South Africa and Afghanistan to be held in Tarouba Trinidad and Tobago. West Indies’ Richie Richardson has been appointed as the match referee for this match.
Journey to the semi-finals
The Indian team made it to the semi-finals after registering a 24-run win against Australia, while defending champion England registered a win against America. In its last match of Super-8, it defeated USA by 10 wickets. On the other hand, if we talk about Group 2, South Africa reached the semi-finals by topping this group. But the most special thing about this World Cup was Afghanistan reaching the semi-finals. Rashid’s team first defeated Australia and then Bangladesh in thrilling matches and secured a place in the semi-finals for the first time. Afghanistan defeated Australia by 21 runs. This was Afghanistan’s first win against Australia in any format.
