PCB New Selection committee: PCB retained Yousuf and Shafiq in the new selection panel

PCB New Selection committee

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has retained former players Mohammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq in the new selection committee that will pick the teams for the home Test series against Bangladesh next month.

Yousuf and Shafiq were members of the previous selection committee that selected the T20 World Cup team. The PCB sacked Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq after the team failed to progress beyond the first round in the T20 World Cup. But surprisingly, Yousuf and Shafiq have been retained.

Yousuf was also the batting coach of the Pakistan team while Wahab also served as the senior team manager on the tour of Ireland, England and the World Cup.

The new committee will also include the captains and head coaches of the red and white ball teams. All members, including Yousuf and Shafiq, will have the right to vote and take decisions.

Test series against Bangladesh

The new selection committee faces a big challenge of selecting the team for the upcoming home series. Pakistan will play a two-Test home series against Bangladesh in August. This tour of Bangladesh will run from 21 August to 3 September. This will be the first assignment of the Pakistan team after the poor performance in the T20 World Cup. Right now, the Pakistan Cricket Board has to choose the captain in the white ball as well. After the T20 World Cup, Babar’s captaincy is in danger.
