US Plane Crash

One person was killed when his plane crashed while he was skydiving in Niagara County, New York. The Federal Aviation Administration said in a statement that the single-engine Cessna 208B plane used for skydiving crashed near Lake Road near Youngstown, New York.

The accident happened on the way back after dropping the divers

According to CNN report, New York authorities launched an investigation on Saturday after the incident. In fact, the plane had dropped off all the divers from the Skydive the Falls skydiving center and was heading back to land when it crashed.

Pilot died

FAA spokeswoman Tammy L. Jones said the only person on the plane was the pilot, who died in the accident. He had tried to open the parachute before the crash.

However, it is still unclear how many divers were on board the plane before the crash, Niagara County Sheriff Michael Filicetti said at a news conference on Saturday. Later, a fire also reportedly broke out around the crash site.

Filicetti said the initial response team had to extinguish “a significant fire at that time.” The sheriff called the plane crash “an unfortunate incident” and said local and federal law enforcement partners were working to find out what caused the accident.
