Paris Olympics 2024: Gagan Narang said a big thing about shooter Sarabjot, said – there is another chance

Paris Olympics 2024

India’s team chief Gagan Narang on Saturday consoled shooter Sarabjot Singh who failed to make it to the final of the men’s 10m air pistol event.

Sarabjot and Arjun Singh Cheema could not make it to the final of the men’s 10m air pistol.

Narang, who won a bronze medal in the 10m air rifle event at the 2012 London Olympics, wrote on his ‘X’ handle, “No one can understand Sarabjot except me how he is feeling. I too had to face a similar situation in the 2008 Beijing Olympics when I missed the ‘count back’.” He said, “Don’t lose courage, you have one more competition. Come back strong my friend and conquer the world.” Sarabjot will now pair up with Manu Bhaker in the 10m air pistol mixed team event, giving him another chance to achieve success.

Nigerian boxer suspended from Olympics

Nigerian boxer Cynthia Ogunsemilore has been excluded from the Paris Olympic Games after being found guilty of consuming banned doping substances. African Games lightweight champion Ogunsemilore was tested on Thursday and tested positive for furosemide in her urine, according to the International Testing Agency. Furosemide is a masking agent that can hide the presence of other drugs. Ogunsemilore has been provisionally suspended and cannot compete at the Olympics, according to the agency.

The 22-year-old boxer was seeded fourth in the 60kg weight category and was to play her first match on Monday. Ogunsemilore won the African Games title in her weight category last year. She won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games 2022. She is the second player to be ruled out of the Paris Olympics due to doping. Earlier on Friday, Iraqi judoka Sajjad Sehen was tested positive.
