Liquor sales in private shops have started in Andhra Pradesh. Even after two days of allotment of shops across the state, the shops have not opened fully yet.

Due to delay in payment of fees to the government by the owners of liquor shops, availability of places to set up shops and other technical reasons, shops have not been set up in full. 3396 liquor shops across the state were allocated in lottery two days ago.

In keeping with the election promise of providing quality liquor at low prices in AP, the government is preparing to sell liquor at Rs.99 in private shops. Officials say that 20,000 cases of liquor will reach the state by next Monday.

Director of Excise Nishant Kumar said that one crore and twenty lakh quarter bottles of liquor will be prepared for sale in the month of October. He said that a quarter bottle of liquor has been made available for Rs.99 as already announced by the state government.

It has been explained that 5 organizations with national reputation in the sale of liquor are ready to sell liquor at this price in Andhra Pradesh. He explained that by Thursday, ten thousand cases of liquor costing Rs.99 have reached the market across the state, and by Monday, the daily supply will reach 20 thousand cases.

It was explained that by the end of this month, 2,40,000 cases of liquor will be available in the state by increasing the supply in a phased manner. In this order, a total of one crore twenty lakh quarter bottles will be available this month, he said. Nishant Kumar explained that following the consumption of alcohol, a decision will be taken on the extent of import brand wise in the coming months.
